Ikigai Gardening was founded in 2021 by Kim, driven by a deep desire to make the world a better place. With a strong belief in working with nature rather than against it, she wants to create outdoor spaces that are not only beautiful but also sustainable, resilient, and alive.

When Kim had to settle down during the pandemic, she arrived in the East Algarve and never left anymore. With a father who worked all her life as a landscape architect she felt that these fingers were gifted to her as well. After working at a few garden companies her entrepreneur (and little stubborn ;-)) mentality started her own garden company. Guided by an independent spirit and a tendency to question the status quo, Kim has always believed that many of today’s challenges can be met with natural, thoughtful solutions—without the use of chemicals or pesticides. Something they practice daily in their maintenance approach. A few years her partner Bruno joined the company. With his decade of experience and being born and bread in the Algarve, he knows what to do in the gardens. Together they arranged a team of experienced and qualified professionals with a motivational work attic. Something that is of paramount importance to the Dutchie in the team :-)

To deepen her understanding of garden design, Kim pursued formal garden design course and began designing gardens herself.
